Health Clinic and STD Info
As a community service I am including this
page, not to scare but to inform. STDs are a fact of life
and no one is immune to them. The old "it can't happen
to me" mentality has gotten millions of people sick
or dead. The only way to protect yourself is to be informed
and use safe sex precautions at all times. Please do so.
Rather than try to retype and publish the mass amount of
information on the numerous types of diseases out there,
I did several web searches and have linked this page to
a mulitude of web sites. There will be a short intro with
some basic information and then a link to more detailed
material. Just click on the item or organization you wish
to learn more about.
What are Stds?
STDs is an abbreviation for Sexually Transmitted
Diseases. It's the term that has replaced VD, or Venereal
Disease. Sexually transmitted diseases are diseases/infections
that are transmitted through sexual contact from one infected
person to another. Every sexually active person is at risk
for STDs, if a partner is infected. To help reduce your
risk, follow safer sex guidelines. If you think you may
have an STD, remember that it is not a stigmatizing experience
-- don't let yourself feel so ashamed, embarrassed, or guilty
that you do not see a health care provider for a check-up
and, if necessary, appropriate treatment.
